Atlanta Fans Get a “Choose-Your-Own” Olympics: Xfinity Deploys AI Fan View for Milan Cortina 2026

The Winter Olympics present a unique challenge for viewers. 3,000 hours of content is spread across multiple channels. Dozens of simultaneous events compete for prime-time attention. For fans in Atlanta trying to follow alpine skiing, figure skating, and hockey, it’s a recipe for frustration.

Comcast Xfinity thinks it has an answer. The company is deploying a suite of AI-powered tools and customization features through its Xfinity platform for the 2026 Milan Cortina Games, designed to let viewers construct their own Olympic experience rather than just passively catching the gold medal highlights.

Customization Takes Center Stage (Ice?) 

At the core of Comcast’s new approach is Fan View, an on-screen companion that consolidates Olympic coverage that has traditionally been scattered across NBC, USA Network, CNBC, and Peacock. The new interface allows viewers to select their favorite sports, which then automatically generates a personalized viewing experience tailored to those preferences.

Beyond simple channel navigation, Fan View provides live programming updates, highlights, medal counts, competition statistics, and daily schedules, which are all accessible without leaving the main viewing screen. 

The platform even includes flyover tours of key venues in and around Italy, including ski slopes, snowboarding halfpipes, and the bobsled track, offering viewers an immersive look at the Olympic sites.

Multiview Gets More Flexible

“Sports is frustrating right now,” said Vito Forlenza, Vice President of Sports Entertainment, Connectivity & Platforms at Comcast. The fragmented landscape has forced fans to flip between channels and streaming services just to follow their favorite leagues and teams.

Xfinity’s Multiview feature lets fans watch up to four channels of NBCUniversal coverage at once, eliminating the need to constantly switch inputs. The new “Create Your Own Multiview” takes this further by allowing viewers to choose exactly which channels appear on screen—whether that’s four simultaneous Olympic events, two favorite competitions paired with other live sports, or any custom combination.

The system maintains statistics and medal counts across all channels in real time, keeping viewers informed without forcing them to choose between events or miss critical moments.

Given the time zone challenge, many events will air live during off-peak hours for U.S. audiences. So Comcast Xfinity is deploying AI to make DVR recordings more navigable. The system automatically tags key moments in NBC’s daytime and primetime coverage, categorizing competitions, interviews, studio analysis, and medal ceremonies. This allows fans to jump directly to the moments that matter rather than scrubbing through hours of footage.
