TiE Atlanta Top Entrepreneur Awards

TiE Atlanta is excited to announce the 2nd Annual TiE Atlanta Top Entrepreneurs Awards at the historic Fox Theatre, located in the heart of the city, September 22nd.

Being an entrepreneur alone takes hard work and determination: The hectic work schedules, unforeseen challenges, and sleepless nights can make the journey all more tiresome than gratifying. But if you’re anything like me, then that’s only half the fun!

But what qualifies as a top TiE entrepreneur?To qualify for this honor, the nominee must have a minimum of $2 million in 2015 revenue and no more than $100 million in 2015 revenue (Well, i'm out of the running).

But although the honor has 'category a' eligibility requirements, to me, this event is special for two reasons: It shows TiE's long-standing commitment and experience in working with and for the next generation of entrepreneurs and business owners and it shows how TiE is changing the face of entrepreneurship, one visionary at a time.

Jeff Arnold Founder of WebMD

At the peak of the dot-com boom - and at only 28 years old - serial entrepreneur and master dealmaker, Jeff Arnold revolutionized healthcare for consumers by founding the health and medical news portal WebMD in 1998. Through a series of acquisitions, Arnold built it into a $1 billion revenue company.

Most recently, Arnold launched Sharecare, an interactive, complete health and wellness platform that has empowered nearly 45 million people to take control of their health with personalized resources, including high-quality information from experts, clinical decision support tools, interactive programs and local healthcare providers. Users have shared more than 5 billion data points about their health status and habits with Sharecare. He was inducted into the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, as an Honorary Member in recognition of his superior achievements and contributions to the advancement of nursing and health care on both a national and global level. Arnold also has been honored by the World Economic Forum; inducted into the Technology Hall of Fame of Georgia; named Entrepreneur of the Year, Southeast Region by Ernst & Young; and received the prestigious Phoenix Award, which recognizes companies and individuals who embody strength, tenacity and leadership in Georgia’s healthcare information technology industry.

Currently chairman of Forbes Travel Guide, Arnold also has served on numerous boards for public, private and charitable organizations over the years.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta
Chief Medical Correspondent at CNN

Dr. Sanjay Gupta is the multiple Emmy® award winning chief medical correspondent for CNN. Gupta, a practicing neurosurgeon, plays an integral role in CNN's reporting on health and medical news for all of CNN's shows domestically and internationally, and contributes to CNN.com. His medical training and public health policy experience distinguishes his reporting from war zones and natural disasters, as well as on a range of medical and scientific topics, including the recent Ebola outbreak, brain injury, disaster recovery, health care reform, fitness, military medicine, and HIV/AIDS. Additionally, Dr. Gupta is the host of Vital Signs for CNN International and Accent Health for Turner Private Networks.

Gupta's passion for inspiring Americans to lead healthier, more active lives led him to launch "Fit Nation," CNN's multi-platform anti-obesity initiative. In 2009, "Fit Nation" followed the progress of Gupta and six CNN viewers as they inspired each other while training for a triathlon. The program is now in its sixth year.
In addition to his work for CNN, Gupta is a member of the staff and faculty at the Emory University School of Medicine. He is associate chief of neurosurgery at Grady Memorial Hospital and regularly performs surgery at Emory University and Grady hospitals. He holds memberships in the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Council on Foreign Relations. He serves as a diplomate of the American Board of Neurosurgery and a certified medical investigator.

Before joining CNN, Gupta completed neurosurgical fellowship at the Semmes Murphey Clinic and residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center. In 1997, he was selected as a White House Fellow, serving as a special advisor to First Lady Hillary Clinton.

Gupta contributes to the CBS newsmagazine 60 Minutes. He is the author of three New York Times best-selling books, Chasing Life (2007), Cheating Death (2009) and Monday Mornings (2012).
