After a traumatic birth, Georgia Dukes-Harris built Swishvo—a tech platform helping holistic health providers manage billing, claims, and care delivery.

When Georgina Dukes-Harris had an emergency c-section during the birth of her son, she assumed she had received all the care available to her. It wasn't until later that she discovered a whole world of maternal health professionals…like doulas, lactation specialists, and other practitioners outside the traditional healthcare system…she never had access to.

“All I was told was to go to the OB GYN,” Dukes-Harris told Hypepotamus. “No one ever exposed me to any of these more alternative or holistic roles. They could have really helped my birthing experience.”

That experience was transformative. “What saved me wasn’t another prescription, it was healers outside the traditional system,” she added. That realization planted the seed for what would eventually become her life's work.

In 2013, Dukes-Harris started developing  a business plan to connect people with these crucial but often overlooked healthcare resources. Life took her in a different direction first, as she spent over a decade building a career in hospital administration. The business plan sat in a box at home for that time.

But the entrepreneurial bug caught up with her. She started by talking to over 1,000 holistic providers to figure out exactly what type of tech platforms they needed. After talking to over 1,000 of such providers, she learned they lacked digital tools to grow their practices.

Tech For Holistic Health

That research ultimately grew into the foundation of Atlanta-based Swishvo, a comprehensive platform helping holistic healthcare providers navigate the business side of healing. The platform helps licensed providers and wellness practitioners navigate the complexities of insurance credentialing, verification, and claims submission. Holistics healers — think doulas, acupuncturists, massage therapists, midwives, herbalists, prenatal chiropractors, and music therapists — can use the Swishvo marketplace to build their business from the ground up. That includes helping them navigate getting insurance reimbursement payments via relevant CPT (current procedural terminology) codes. Swishvo’s AI-driven prompts also help providers figure out exactly how to position and market their services.

“Then they get to use the core Swishvo platform to manage their visits,” Dukes-Harris added. That means they can track notes and document each patient encounter so that they can efficiently get reimbursements done.

Swishvo is still in its early stages. Dukes-Harris built the beta version from pitch competition winnings and her own investments in the product. The startup officially launched in July of 2024.

The formula seems to be working. This month the startup announced it had officially processed over $500,000 in insurance claims. And just this week the Swishvo team placed second in the Get Venture Ready Pitch Competition by the Fearless Fund Foundation, walking away with a $10,000 grant.

“We try to take on all the administrative burden so these providers can really focus on what they do best, which is healing these people,” she added.

Building Health Solutions In The Southeast

Dukes-Harris received her bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and masters from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is now building Swishvo from her home in Atlanta. She said she is dedicated to building and expanding the platform from the Southeast, the region of the country where health disparities are the greatest.

Right now she is focused on bringing more providers onto the platform and building out the Swishvo investor pool through its upcoming community equity raise.
