My1000Points | New Dimension To Managing Your Finances

Personal finance is something that many Americans struggle with. Most have little to no background in finance and consequently, the balance of their checking accounts stays perpetually in the red. It may or may not surprise you to hear that nearly one in 6 Americans are willing to jeopardize finances for a vacation. And even though the US economy has, for the most part, returned to normalcy, American households had a net increase of $57.1 billion in credit card debt in 2014. To understand the scope of financial mismanagement in 2015, you just need to search Google Maps and see the hundreds of payday loan shops in the metro area. However, Atlanta-based startup My1000Points wants to change today’s reality by bringing a new dimension to managing personal finances.

Founded by Reginald Maisonneuve, “My1000Points is a unique, 3D interactive visualization and quantification of financial health that promotes financial literacy and advances financial well-being for individuals and families across the socioeconomic spectrum and stage in life,” says Maisonneuve. “It is a product that advances the art and science of financial management.”

While there are a plethora of digital financial management platforms out there, “My1000Points introduces unique and strategically significant capabilities that the others simply do not provide. Our product was designed from inception to be a strategic product and competitive differentiator, not a “me too” product,” he explains. “In fact, My1000Points can be bolted on or co-exist with existing PFM products with little or no redundancy in functionality. We want to move the art and science forward, not reinvent the wheel.”

A corporate America veteran, Maisonneuve brings decades of management experience to the table. After working at Verizon, Sapient, and most recently Accenture, he decided to turn his attention to personal finances during the Great Recession. “With the severe economic distress experienced these past years across our economy, I became intrigued with how people were managing their financial affairs and applied myself to addressing the opportunity,” he recalls.

Although originally from Québec, Reginald loves living in Georgia’s capital. “We moved to Atlanta in 2006 and it has very definitely become our home after many previous moves domestically and abroad,” he says. “Its rich technology sector has rewarded me with important professional experiences and opportunities to deepen my craft and I feel very fortunate that Atlanta is increasingly dominant in FinTech, my trade and passion.”

While Maisonneuve has been bootstrapping his venture since inception, he’s now in the process of launching the product and is seeking funds to support its launch and growth. “Our investment target is $1 million,” he says. “We are looking for investors and/or partners who are experienced in the FinTech sector with existing relationships to promote awareness and facilitate growth.” Be sure to follow My1000Points on Twitter @my1000points.
