Lance Weatherby's Recap of SEVC
Last week saw the 8th annual SEVC confab make its way to Atlanta at the swank downtown Ritz Carlton. Put on by TechMedia, SEVC events average over $80 billion in private/venture capital in attendance. All that capital of course captures the attention of entrepreneurs looking for funding and 48 companies pitched to packed rooms of investors.
Of course the VC in SEVC is stands for venture capitalists and that is the target audience for this conference. In addition to the company presentations there were opening keynotes by Doug Lada founder and CEO of Tree.com as well as Reggie Aggarwal founder and CEO of Cvent who told exceptional tales of entrepreneurship. Marcus Lemonis of The Profit closed things out in style. In between where panels on angel investing, entrepreneurship, early stage fundraising, growth funding, M&A, IPOs, and the viewpoint of limited partners.
With SEVC a wrap for the year it is time to look ahead to Venture Atlanta. There are spots for 30 startups for this year's event which takes place October 21-22 at the Georgia Aquarium.
