Hartsfield-Jackson Airport Travelers Get New Luggage Storage Option, Powered By Atlanta Startup

Baggage is the unspoken, universal pain point of travel.

Whether you’re flying for work or heading out on vacation, the problem is the same. If you can’t check in early, or you’re expected to leave your accommodation early, you are stuck spending parts of your trip “tethered to luggage,” as Atlanta entrepreneur Akmann Van-Mary puts it.

It was something that Van-Mary, who has three decades in the logistics technology space,  experienced during his own travels. Now with a new partnership with the Atlanta airport, and the IT giant underpinning the global aviation industry, Van-Mary’s latest venture, Reclaim, is ready to improve travel…one bag at a time.

Inside Reclaim

“We want passengers to think about their luggage only twice during a trip,” Van-Mary told Hypepotamus. That is when they pack and when they unpack.

Reclaim picks up travelers’ luggage from their home, hotel, and Airbnb and check it in with their airlines. Travelers using Reclaim can then skip the luggage dropoff line at the airport and go straight to the gate, meeting their bags upon arrival.

The “door-to-destination carousal” model is designed to “Designed to complement, not replace, existing airport and airline processes,” the startup says.

Bags are securely collected, tracked end-to-end, and delivered to the airport before the passenger arrives. The price per bag is $25, per Reclaim’s website.

This, of course, helps passengers more smoothly navigate their travel plans. But it also “helps airports handle passenger surges more easily, leading to shorter queues, less stress for staff, smoother journeys for travelers, and fewer mistakes along the way,” according to a company press release.

Van-Mary said that Reclaim has been working “incognito” mode at the Atlanta airport since December of 2025. This makes Hartsfield Jackson the first U.S. airport supporting baggage flow that starts outside the airport.

But he said in the next few months, travelers will start seeing the Reclaim logo around Hartsfield Jackson.

This week, the Atlanta-based startup announced a partnership with SITA, a global aviation IT leader whose technology is used by more than 1,000 airports and supports over 19,600 aircraft worldwide.

This partnership will ensure that Reclaim’s services work seamlessly across all airport and airline environments, according to Van-Mary.

SITA, a Swiss company, moved its North American headquarters to Cobb County, Georgia in 2023.

An Atlanta Travel Opportunity

Van-Mary has built his career in the logistics space, previously founding RoadSync (known first as MyLumper), in 2015. He served as CEO until 2017.

He told Hypepotamus that Atlanta was the natural home for Reclaim. But he also sees it as a tech platform that can boost the city’s economy and tourism. The idea is simple: give visitors on short stays or layovers the freedom to explore Atlanta without worrying about their bags. The goal, he said, is to make it easier for visitors on layovers or short business trips to explore Atlanta without worrying about their luggage.

“That’s good for Atlanta,” he added.
