GA will be featuring 25 workshops and events on several disciplines from Digital Marketing to Front-End Web Development. Network with other like-minded professionals and hear from industry experts on what it takes to make it in Atlanta. A lot of the offerings are free - there's nothing stopping you!

Monday, 17 August 6 – 9 pm

  • Introduction to Node.JS: Intro to Node.js will begin by walking you through setting up Node JS on your local machines. You will then be taught how to create a server with the HTTP module and also how to create modules with “module.exports."
  • History of Graphic Design: This workshop emphasizes the search to give visual form to ideas and concepts as created within various professions.
  • Content Marketing for Beginners: Walk away with a clear picture of what content can do for your brand, and what you can do to get started using it.
  • UX Wireframing: The Basics: This presentation will go through several examples of UX wireframes and demonstrate their pros/cons and appropriate uses.
  • Top Ten Marketing Trends to Watch: This report will identify global media trends, culture shifts and new technologies for an ever-changing society from a millennials perspective.

Tuesday, 18 August 6:30 – 9 pm

  • Mobile User Experience Design: In this introductory class you will learn the types of prototypes, tools, and best practices when designing for mobile.
  • Easy Data Visualization with Javascript: This talk provides a quick and simple overview to building attractive, interactive visualizations within web pages.
  • Copywritting 101: Through guided discussions, group exercises and interactive explorations, students will define copywriting and how it compares to other types of writing, understand its value as a business and marketing tool, learn a basic process for practicing and evaluating copywriting, and apply this knowledge to real-world examples.
  • Coding for Designers: Hear about how easy learning to code can be, and also how empowering it is when you have the skills to develop your own designs.

Wednesday, 19 August 8 am – 9 pm

  • Women in Tech Breakfast: Four great women in tech will give their insight on how they reached their level of success, advise on navigating the workplace, and how we can help the next generation of women in tech.
  • Navigating Office Politics: You’ll come away with a greater understanding of your political savvy and it’s value. Explore your own skills to navigate the powers of influence more effectively.
  • Intro to Documentary Filmaking: This class will look at documentary filmmaking as both an art and as a profession. You’ll get an opportunity to review examples from different social documentaries and look at essential storytelling elements.
  • Advanced Topics in Excel: This class will extend beyond the simple addition of data and will put students in a position where Excel is no longer a chore, but a powerful tool to assist in manipulating data efficiently.
  • UX: Usability in Practice: Learn to define usability and form an understanding about how human measurement should be used in order to verify that the outcomes of a design process lead to improvements, rather than just changes.
  • Founder Stories: How to Connect with the Unconnectable: In this panel, the top startup guys in Atlanta, Devon Wijesinghe, CEO of Insightpool and Kyle Porter, CEO of SalesLoft will be in the "hot seat" with Rhiannon Apple, RVP of Fullscreen. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear their stories and learn what it takes to be a great influencer in your market.

Thursday, 20 August 6 – 9 pm

  • Talk Like a Programer: Learn to talk the talk without walking the walk. This class is for people who want to speak intelligently about tech.
  • Intermediate HTML & CSS: This class is the quickest way to dive deeper into Front-End Web Development and get a strong understanding of how to build websites with HTML & CSS.
  • Intro to SEO: Learn what search engines are trying to achieve and why, how they’ve developed over time, what’s in store in their future, what elements have traditionally been important for doing well in search results, and what recent changes have been made that will affect the way SEO works.
  • Introduction into Product Management: Learn how to analyze the market, flesh out your ideas, identify risks, and validate assumptions.
  • Business Growth Hacks: Making a Profitable Website: Learn best practices for website design, how to funnel traffic to your end goal, and how to setup A/B split tests for free.

Friday, 21 August 8 am – 9 pm

  • Drink and Draw: Atlanta in Technicolor: Come get creative while drinking a beer or a glass of wine over chill music and good conversation. Best design wins a free bottle of wine & $50 workshop credit voted on by the attendees.
  • Entrepreneurs Breakfast Club: Once a month, join General Assembly for a breakfast led by a thought leader with great business advice to share with you.

Saturday, 22 August 10 am – 4 pm

  • Navigating the Career Jungle: This workshop will help you achieve clarity to create an effective career strategy.
  • Adobe Photoshop Bootcamp: This bootcamp will help students visualize products and designs using Photoshop and learn some basic visual design tips.
  • Digital Marketing Bootcamp: This interactive, activity driven class will enable you to reach and engage your audience in your organizational space. You will then identify how to track and drive them toward relevant conversion points and KPIs.
