Have you ever thumbed through iTunes and been unable to find a song that fits your mood? Well those days are soon to be over, thanks to Bryant O'Hara's ingenious idea titled "biometric music." O'Hara, a science fiction poet, musician, and senior consultant for B2B Technologies, has begun development on a technology that picks up your vitals (heartbeat, activity levels...) and creates music based on the inner workings of you.

The idea of a "soundtrack to your life" is not only thought provoking, but it also is a great representation of O'Hara's intelligence, creativity, and ability to look outside of the box for technological enhancements and solutions. Check out his profile below and connect with him to further develop this innovative musical concept.

What is your current role?
I am a Software Consultant for B2B Technologies.

What are your best technical or creative skills?
Application development - primarily back-end (SQL, ASP.NET, C#, python, etc.) I experiment with literature (spoken word, science fiction poetry) and music. Currently I combine my interests in programming, poetry, and music and post them on SoundCloud.

What is the name for your upcoming project?
It's called "Biometric Music".

What is your pitch for this new idea?
The future of music is hyper-personal, tied to the very motions and rhythms of your life. This is a type of music that is always on, and is always you. My goal is to use activity trackers, heart rate monitors and other devices of the "quantifiable self" to create unique, constantly changing musical compositions.

How did you come up with the idea for it?
I was watching a TED talk by Nathalie Miebach called "Art Made of Storms". This talk kicked off an ongoing fascination with data sonification (as opposed to visualization) and the potential to turn normally non-musical data into music.

Who will your competitors be and how do you intend to make your idea stand out?
The potential competitors would be activity tracker manufacturers, mobile music application developers, and music intelligence services (MusicBrainz and EchoNest, to name a few). I would stand out by providing multiple ways to compose and the compatibility it will have towards multiple platforms.

What kind of mentor/help do you need to launch this thing further?
I'm not sure yet, but I have some rough guesses. I would need specialists in working with API frameworks in multiple languages, data analysis, music metadata, computer-based music composition, mobile development, cloud development, software architecture, and project management. Marketing and business folks are needed, too, but I don't have an idea of when they need to be involved in the evolution of this product just yet.
