Good Agriculture’s CEO Alex Edquist has made the rounds on pitch stages across the Southeast — including Sloss Tech in Birmingham, Venture Atlanta, and Fintech South — to share her tech and AI platform designed to streamline the business side of farming.
That time proved to be fruitful for Edquist, as it helped her connect to lead investor Pittsburgh-based Nicely Road for her recently announced $1.5 million seed round.
One of her mentors during the Fintech Innovation Challenge last year introduced her to a friend with a background in the agricultural industry.
“We stuck that friend on our stakeholder updates (like we do almost everyone who agrees to it), and he forwarded one of our updates to someone he met who’d just bought a farm. That new farmer set up a call with me – and then said he also does a lot of startup investing! It was extremely lucky but also luck that resulted from us putting ourselves in lots of situations to meet people and staying in touch with those folks,” Edquist told Hypepotamus.
“Nicely Road exists to unleash the power of local farms and regenerative farming practices, and Good Agriculture is doing exactly that,” said Justin McElhattan, CEO of Nicely Road, in a press release. “They understand the pressures farmers face and are building practical solutions that strengthen the agricultural community.”
A Look Ahead For Good Agriculture
Last year, Good Agriculture raised a $650,000 pre-seed round to escalate its back office solution for farmers. Edquist said that fundraising for this seed round was easier than the previous round and that they actually closed ahead of schedule.

“We did a ton of work building our investor network in the pre-seed round and demonstrated our ability to stay in touch, keep growing, and cultivate all those de-risking traits investors look for. It also helped that our “AI agent native” approach is in vogue now – two years ago, when we’d explain our approach we got put into a “tech enabled services” bucket and investors frequently told us they only invested in SaaS,” she added.
The platform currently has customers working in more than half of the US states.
Edquist said that the new injection of capital will go into building out Good Agriculture’s tech and scaling up its go-to-market plans. The team has set out a goal of reaching over 1,000 customers and $2 million plus ARR in the next two years.
